Warners Classics announces the release of Andrew von Oeyen's Bach and Beethoven recital, recorded by Michael Fine with engineer Erdo Groot in Soisson's Cité de la Musique et La Danse. Part of the team for this recording was legendary piano technician Kazuto Osato. https://vimeo.com/521762770/
Despite the COVID crisis which led to two postponements, Michael Fine's Chamber Symphony received its European premiere with the Prague Philharmonia under the direction of its Music Director Emmanuel Villaume in Prague's Jatka78 concert space. The concert was streamed worldwide over social media; the composer along with members of the orchestra's staff were the only people present in the audience. The orchestra has promised to program the work again when audiences are allowed to come to concerts. https://www.youtube.
Gautier Capuçon's new album - Emotions - a powerful and varied collection of arrangements and original works for cello and orchestra and cello and piano is the sequel to the charismatic French cellist's acclaimed album 'Intuition.' Adrien Perruchon conducts Orchestre de Chambre de Paris with Jérôme Ducros, pianist and arranger. The program was recorded in February 2020 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Michael Fine produced the sessions with engineer Jin Choi. https://www.
Michael Fine's Chamber Symphony will receive its European premiere on 20 November 2020 with Emmanuel Villaume conducting the PKF Prague Philharmonia at the Lobkowicz Palace. The concert was originally scheduled for June but postponed due to the coronavirus. Chamber Symphony received its world premiere conducted by Scott Yoo with the faculty of the Colorado College Summer Music Festival last June. https://www.pkf.cz/en/
Like the rest of the world during the coronavirus pandemic, our schedule has been affected by the crisis with concerts of Michael's music and recording sessions postponed. We've been using the time to catch up on post-production, have taken on projects which Michael didn't produce for editing and mixing. Michael finished post-production on Jae-hyuck Cho's Rachmaninoff Concertos 2 and 3 with Hans Graf and the Russian National Orchestra and Russian Trumpet Concertos with Paul Merkelo, also with Maestro Graf and the RNO. Michael also finished the editing and mixing of the Shostakovich 10th Symphony with Roberto Beltran-Zavala conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato. Of course, Michael is busily composing: a concerto for Two Cellos for Nikolai Shugaev and Willem Stam, a trio for clarinetist Romie DeGuise Langlois, cellist Dmitri Atapine, and pianist Hyeyeon Park to be recorded on a program of music by living American composers, and a Trumpet Concerto. We've been gratified by the positive critical response to 'Five for Five' - Wind Quintets by Michael Fine - released by Evidence Classics late last year.
